The sacraments are the source of our life in Christ or, as the Catechism of the Catholic Church puts it, “The sacraments are efficacious signs of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, by which divine life is dispensed to us” (n. 1131). The first two weeks of the Pastoral Institute Sacraments course will examine grace and the first sin, our responsibilities toward the sacraments, material things as instruments of grace and what is meant by “efficacious signs of [sanctifying] grace.” The next four weeks will examine the Sacraments of Initiation: 1) Baptism, 2) Confirmation, and 3) Eucharist. For each sacrament, the theology of the sacrament, the origins of the sacrament, and the way in which the sacrament is practiced in the Catholic Church will be examined.
This course will be offered at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn and at the Chancery in Victoria via “Distance Learning”. Cost is $30.00 for the six-week course. Cost is $20.00 or $35.00 for The Sacraments textbook (optional) [iBook may be purchased from Midwest Theological Forum (optional)]
